Credentialing Program Assistant

Coordinates provider applications for credentials within the Veterans Health Care System. Initiates application package within technical requirements per specialty of provider. Educates providers and serves as a technical resource on application requirements and provider. Educates providers and serves as a technical resource on application requirements and deadlines. Initiates application folder and database account (VetPro and PrivPlus) to meet technical requirements. Multiple accrediting agencies are continuously updating standards; incumbent must seek continuous review of national and local policy and procedures. Comparison between CV and application must be accomplished to identify discrepancies, gaps and/or red flags. Must have an in-depth knowledge of Credentialing to identify missing information. Research and document primary source verification of applicant's education, training and personal history. Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and validation of data and documents in support of the credentialing process. Coordinates incoming data and documents from a variety of sources. Reviews documents received and determines course of action based on information provided within documents, i.e., contacts provider for omissions; initiates primary source verification of credentials; and alerts supervisor to deviations and/or negative responses in documentation. Validates applicant information by querying the National Practitioner Data Bank and Health Care Integrity Protection Data Bank for past negative occurrences. If derogatory information develops, determines severity and applicability of information and determines appropriate officials to be notified. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as experience which equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform successfully the duties of the Credentialing Program Assistant, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position. Examples of specialized experience include but are not limited to:
Operating a personal computer. Verifying accuracy and completeness of information on paper or computer documents or records. Maintaining security or confidentially of records, equipment, or computer access. Correcting mistakes in written or computer documents or records. Gathering information, entering data, formulating letters, reports or other documents, and compiling information. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements:
The work of this position is mostly sedentary; however, walking, bending, stooping, and carrying light weight documents, folders and manuals are required. This position also requires manual dexterity to enter computer information, hearing and distinct speech for extensive telephone communication, and mental concentration to meet critical deadlines. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
